Suzan began seat weaving in 1999...

after dragging home yet another seatless chair from a tag sale, she began taking classes in seat weaving at H.H. Perkins taught by Jim Muldoon in West Haven CT, may he be resting peacefully.  From there she went on to learn many different types of seat weaving techniques using a wide variety of materials.

Most weaves have been self taught with a whole lot of support from many of the highly skilled members of The SeatWeaver's Guild, Inc.,  members of the Caning Forum, Caryl and Ray DeFrancesco of HH Perkins as well as Gary Marshall's Seatweaving Class at the J.C. Campbell Folk Art School.
 It has taken a village.

Suzan is also working on a decorative painting journeyman at the Isabel O'Neil Studio workshop in Manhattan.
